“Laughter is good for the soul”. According to some research it has been discovered that laughing is actually good for your health. You’re probably thinking how exactly is laughter good for your health, that’s actually a very good question. Let me show you. It is said that laughter can help relax the entire body. When you laugh your body tension and stress begins to loosen up and your body becomes more relaxed for about 45 minutes. Laughter helps decrease stress hormones and increase immune cells and infection fighting antibodies which helps prevents diseases. When you laugh it triggers the release of endorphins which is the body’s natural “feel good” chemicals. Endorphins promote a good sense of wellbeing and can even temporarily relieve pain. The most important thing that laughter helps with is that it protects the heart. Laughter helps improve the function of blood vessels and helps increase blood flow which can help prevent heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems.

Laughter has always helped me in my life especially in times where I felt I didn’t really want to laugh. Just recently, I was actually supposed to meet up with this girl who I was talking to for about a week. We had a whole plan setup and the day we were supposed to meet she ended up cancelling on me. I felt really bummed out and I started talking with some friends and it donned on me what I really needed at that moment was a good laugh. I went over to the computer and I put on a George Lopez stand up comedy show. George Lopez is a famous actor and comedian and man did he sure make me laugh that day. When the show was over I had gotten over my little depressed mode and I was feeling great. In life there are actually times were we could all use a good laugh. I know that there were times were I could have been hurt by rejection of a girl or just being let down by a friend but I learned that the best cure was a good laugh.Laughing feels good especially when you need it. I remember when my best friend had died and everyone was feeling sad and depressed. When I brought up a funny memory of me and him everyone was laughing and seemed it lightened up the room. Next thing you know we were all reminiscing about our favorite memories of him. Laughter had actually helped change everyone’s mood and when the day was through everyone felt a whole lot better about the loss. Laughter is what can change a situation instantaneously and it benefits all parties involved. My favorite way of laughter is watching standup comedians. As I said before I really enjoyed watching George Lopez as well as others like Katt Williams, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, etc. Comedians are a great way to promote laughter because the majority of them actually relate to you and life events that are taking place now. Being around friends that have a good sense of humor is nice. I have also learned that just the things we can tend to do in life can give us a good laugh. Another good way of laughing is actually learning to laugh at yourself, once in a while. When you are able to laugh at yourself then you are able to laugh at whatever life deals you. “Never forget to laugh because laughter can go a long way!”
