YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO GET

I was watching Finding Nemo (my all-time favorite film). The scene where Marlin and Dory are deciding to ride the current gave me a whole new look at things. The current represent life and the fish are us. Sometimes you have to be willing to jump into the current of life, take a risk or just let life pass you by. Now that is a deep meaning to a small scene right.

I mean think about this for a second; why do so many people feel like they have not accomplished much in life? Is it because there aren’t enough of us taking risks? The majority of people aren’t willing to actually go out and try something new. Studies show that a large percentage of people are afraid to go out of their comfort zones. Maybe if more people were willing to go for the things they desired the world would see more successful people. Someone once told me that trying isn’t when you approach a challenge, turn away and then say “I tried” but trying is when you attempt a challenge. Whether you do well or not, you can say “I Tried”.

Think about all the different celebrities in the world who felt afraid just like you. Michael Jordan was too short to play basketball in high school but did that stop him, no. Michael Jordan went on to play ball in College and then to the NBA to become a very successful man. He was willing to take a risk on himself and put himself out there. In the end he was a winner. Can you think of another person like Michael Jordan who took a risk in life and succeeded? There is a saying that many of us have heard, it states “You either go big or go home”.

They say your greatest enemy is yourself and only you are stopping yourself from achieving all your dreams. What I am trying to say is that we need to have the courage to try new things in our lives, things that we have never done before. Why do we have to stop ourselves from trying something new? Is it the fear of the unknown? You will never know if you like something until you have tried it. I think the best experiences in life are when you are able to do the things you only wished you had done. Take a risk or taking that chance could lead to something good for you. I remember an experience of mine. It was a several years ago, I had always been afraid to ride on a roller-coaster. Just looking at one made me nauseas and being so high up scared the heck out of me. One day it finally came to that moment where it was time to put up or shut up, go big or go home. My first rollercoaster experience was exhilarating; I remember just screaming and enjoying myself and being on it made me realize that rollercoasters weren’t scary at all. From that moment on, I no longer had a fear of heights. Look, I’m not trying to judge you in any way but I hope by reading this blog, I was able to encourage you in some way to maybe think about confronting life. Just remember, you may never know where life will take you. I have always believed that everything happens for a reason, good or bad it all has a purpose.

Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.” -Oprah Winfrey
